You may already know that vape e-liquid only has a few ingredients, most of which can be found in food items on the shelves of your grocery store. What you may not know, however, is whether your vape e-liquid has a shelf life, after which it should be thrown away.
It’s easy to collect vape e-liquid, especially because there are so many different flavors to choose from. You may quickly find yourself stocked up on numerous options without the possibility of ever getting through them all. So, when is it time to discard your vape e-liquid? Do you even need to?
Most vape e-liquid has a stated expiration date of about two years. As a general rule of thumb, at the two-year, mark the flavor profile and the nicotine level that it started with will have degraded and may not provide you with the same results that you achieved when it was newly made.
Is it going to be bad for you to use your vape e-liquid after the two-year mark? Most vapers would say no, but it could leave you with a funny aftertaste that isn’t as pleasant as you would hope. Although the ingredients in vape e-liquid are shelf stable, there are a few ways you can determine whether you should toss the bottle:
- The liquids have begun to separate or there is a change in the color.
- The flavor doesn’t taste good anymore or leaves a funny aftertaste.
- The nicotine strength isn’t what it should be.
If you use vape e-liquid that doesn’t have nicotine, the same rule of thumb applies, but you may actually be able to use your vapes longer since the nicotine won’t play a factor in your experience. In these cases, it will really be up to you to decide!
At The Vape Shop, we hope you’ll not only enjoy your vape e-liquid but also be a responsible vaper and throw away your outdated supply. After all, if it’s been sitting on the shelf for too long, you may want to replace it anyway.
